Add shift end time as template key

It would be great to not only be able to include the start time of shifts in volunteer reminder emails, but the length of the shift including end time.  We want to encourage our volunteers to stay for the full shift, and it is difficult to reinforce that without telling them both start and end time in their reminders.

Hi Sam,

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us with your thoughts. I can understand why you would need end time and duration to appear for volunteers in both their reminder emails and within their need/opportunity response list!  I will absolutely share this with our team and update our current notes to include your request in regards to the user’s need response table piece.

Have a great weekend,

I'd like to reiterate Anna's original suggestion. One of my organizations is using "Custom Shift" in the duration field. The individual shifts are for varying lengths of time, so adding it in the comment or description field would not solve their problem.

Having the shift start and duration/end time would also be helpful in the user's view of their Need Responses.

Hi Anna,

I just wanted to circle back to this conversation and let you know of a recent update!

In the "Upcoming Need Reminder", our Development team was able to make it to where the {{need_date}} key will show the date and start time for a shift reminder.

Currently, it only shows the start time of the shift, but I hope this in addition to the {{need_comment}} workaround Autum gave you previously will further help your volunteer's experience.

Warmly,

Perfect!  I was viewing the opportunity from the program manager perspective where that box doesn't exist.

Thanks!

Absolutely! It is at the bottom of the page when you either click Add New Need or if you update an existing need. This is what it looks like:

Hi Autum,

Thank you!  Where is the comments text box when you're creating or updating a need?  I'm not sure if I'm looking in the right place, so can you direct me to it?

Thanks so much!

Hi Anna! I just wanted to check back in with you to let you know that we now have a Need Comment Key available in the Need Response Thank You notification.

When you add text in the Comments text box when you're creating/updating a need, that text can show up in the Need Response Thank You notification by adding {{need_comment}} key. This isn't specifically for end shift time, but it could be something you can add in the Comments text box, then add in the notification template.

Thank you!

That's great! We will have a custom key available in our next enhancement round, which will be live in the next few weeks. It sounds like that would be a good option for a way to include end shift times in notifications. I will check back in to this conversation with more information when the enhancement is ready.

Thank you for your feedback!

It would definitely be helpful to have a custom key for the end shift time!

Thanks!

Hi Anna!

Thank you for documenting this request. I will bring this to the attention of our Development Team and use your comment as a reference. Would it be helpful to have a custom key where you can include that (or any other kind) of information?

Have a great day!
