We use cookies to try and give you a better experience in Freshdesk.
You can learn more about what kind of cookies we use, why, and how from our Privacy policy. If you hate cookies, or are just on a diet, you can disable them altogether too. Just note that the Freshdesk service is pretty big on some cookies (we love the choco-chip ones), and some portions of Freshdesk may not work properly if you disable cookies.
We’ll also assume you agree to the way we use cookies and are ok with it as described in our Privacy policy, unless you choose to disable them altogether through your browser.
Our organization has used the kiosk for nearly a year now, and has seen many instances of users mistakenly clicking the Return to Start button when they mean to click Check In, Check Out, View Other Opportunities, etc. This confuses users and requires staff intervention to get them back on track. We suggest changing the shape of the Return to Start button to a Stop sign or something different from the other (blue) buttons. This would help volunteers understand that clicking it stops their forward progress. Also, it would accommodate people with disabilities, like color blindness, low vision, etc. who need some way other than reading the text on the button to know what to do. (Or not do, in this case.)

Hi, Holly,
Thanks for adding this to the forum! Here is the current write up of your suggestions that I'll be pass on to the enhancements team:
"Change the wording of the "Return to Start" button to something more clear like "Go Back" and changing the placement of the buttons so that "Create Account" and "Go Back" so that it's more clear which button volunteers should choose."
Does that sound like I'm summarizing that correctly?
Best,

Hi!
I see that the Return to Start button is now red, but it's still featured prominently and I've had multiple volunteers get confused and wonder why they are unable to find the account that they believe they just created.
Here are my ideas for solving this:
-Would it be possible to remove the Return to Start button?
-Change the text to "Go back"? Instead of "Return to start"
-Place the two options together "Create Account" and "Go back" so volunteers see both buttons at the same time, making it more likely that they'll select the appropriate option.
Thanks!

Hi Becki,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention! Here is my current write up of your suggestion for our enhancements board:
“Update the shape and color of the ‘Return to Start’ button in the kiosk to further help volunteers understand that clicking it will stop their forward progress.”
Does that sum up your request sufficiently?
Thank you,
Shonie
