We use cookies to try and give you a better experience in Freshdesk.
You can learn more about what kind of cookies we use, why, and how from our Privacy policy. If you hate cookies, or are just on a diet, you can disable them altogether too. Just note that the Freshdesk service is pretty big on some cookies (we love the choco-chip ones), and some portions of Freshdesk may not work properly if you disable cookies.
We’ll also assume you agree to the way we use cookies and are ok with it as described in our Privacy policy, unless you choose to disable them altogether through your browser.
I know that the verbiage can be adjusted by request but the link can't be.
So here’s my problem. That box is the center of the screen on mobile devices. It’s the first thing that most people will click. When they click on it, it takes them to the most confusing page on the portal. If we can’t change the link in the text box (not sure why that is not an option) then I would rather remove that section entirely (I’m not crazy about the map either. No relevance for us.) and replace it with my Spotlight 1.
I’m open to suggestions.
I think it would be most helpful for users to be able to choose their city as the first option. From the user perspective, they care most about what is closest to them. I don’t need them seeing things immediately that have no relevance to them.
Please help me out with some solutions. I would like to push a little harder on being able to change the link routing please.

Hi Paul,
I apologize on behalf of our team for our delay in replying to your forum post here. I completely understand your desire to be able to choose this link this button routes folks to, so I have added your request to our current notes on it. This is not something we can change on the fly.
That being said, I have a couple ideas on how to improve this experience for your users a bit, both of these may work well together.
1. You are able to change the default view of the opportunity page to be calendar, grid, or list within your Settings > Main Settings > Volunteer section for "Default User View". It is currently set to calendar, but if you think this confuses users upon their initial visit to the page you may want to consider another format. Screenshot of this setting below:
2. Another cool setting that we added recently to the software is in Settings > Main Settings > Opportunities section for "Users can filter opportunities using geolocation". When this setting is enabled, visiting the page will prompt users, asking them if they would like to use their location to filter for opportunities near them. I think enabling this setting would definitely help guide users to opportunities better suited for them by location. Screenshot of the setting below:
I hope these options help the user experience, thanks again for posting. I hope you have a great weekend!
