Ability to overbook a shift on kiosk mode

We would like the ability for volunteers to check in on the kiosk even if the shift is full. We typically do not turn volunteers away once they are at the food bank, and it is not easy to go in and add spots on the shift in the middle check in. This would be especially helpful for teams who have reserved spots with the intention of having their group sign up once they arrive. The individual team members have not been able to sign up because the shift is "full" with reserved spots.

Can this be an option that we can opt into? I realize this situation is not ideal for everyone.

Hi Liz,

That makes total sense -- I will add you request as follows for our team to take a look at to advocate for a future update:

"The ability for users who have not responded to a shift to check into the shift when they arrive on site, even if the shift is also full. This is in addition to those meant to take up reserved team slots."

In the meantime, I wanted to recommend a couple different workflows in case it is helpful!

  • For folks meant to take reserved team slots that did not follow a team join link and show up to the shift, the team leader or person who has an account that created the team can select "Check In with a Team" when using the kiosk. Then, when checking out, they are able to submit Plus One Hours to log additional volunteer's hours worked. This is a good way to get around creating new accounts, if the additional volunteers prefer not to.
  • Alternatively, that user can sign in individually and any folks that show up to a shift that do not have a response in or if it is full, you can have them write down their first name, last name, and email address. After the opportunity has passed, you're able to utilize our Quick Add Users and Hours tool to create a user account on their behalf as well as record their hours to their profile.

Thanks again,

Shonie
