❖ Heads up! This article is intended for volunteers. If you're a site manager, click here. If you're an agency manager, click here.
Did you respond to a Need with scheduled shifts? You may be asked to check in through a kiosk when you arrive for that Need. When you check-in or out at the kiosk, your hours are logged for that Need. New user? No problem! While you have the option to create an account at the Check-In Kiosk, you may find that you have to complete required qualifications before you can respond to a Need. This isn't always the case, so be sure to speak with the volunteer coordinator or site supervisor when you arrive if you haven't already registered on a volunteer site. They can assist you and ensure you're properly prepared to participate. Here we cover:
✅ Best practice: Be sure to complete your profile before you use the check-in kiosk to ensure you've completed all necessary qualification requirements.
ⓘ So you know: Some sites have language overrides in place. This means you may see Opportunities in place of Needs, Programs in place of Agencies, or Prerequisites in place of Qualifications.

What if I forget to check out?
The default hours for that Need are applied to your account even if you forget to check out for it. For example, if the Need is scheduled for 2.5 hours, then 2.5 hours are applied to your profile—even if you didn't check out with the Check-In Kiosk.
✏️ Quick tip: We recommend that you always check your hours after you've finished a volunteer Need to ensure accurate reporting. You can always review:
- Your volunteer resume.
- Your volunteer snapshot.
- The Track Hours area from your profile.
What if a Need is private?
Private Needs are not viewable to the public and are only accessible by User Group assignment or personal invitation.
- If a Need is private, then you can only view and check in to it with the Check-In Kiosk if:
- You're a member of a User Group assigned that Need.
- You've received a link to that private Need and responded to it through the link before logging on to the Check-In Kiosk.
- If you haven't received a link or been assigned to it, then you won't see it as an available option in the kiosk.
