Issue: Timing is an important aspect of sending a thank-you. We would prefer to communicate to the volunteer 24-48 hours after the opportunity happened. Of course a thank you at any time is better than none at all, but given the nature of communication (social media, 24/7 etc.) and how it has evolved over the years, 1 week seems like a long time for an electronic communication.
Benefit: One of the many ways way to keep and maintain the volunteer relationship, timely acknowledgement of the effort someone has shown/participated.
