We would like the ability for volunteers in on-going opportunities to be able to indicate that they have completed their volunteer work and for the system to understand the work is completed.

Hi Kris,

Awesome, thank you for the extra context! Here is is what I am understanding you would need:

  • The ability to set a maximum / "hours cap" for ongoing opportunities
  • When the user meets the hour cap, a notification would be triggered for the user and program manager letting them know they've served the time needed for the opportunity
  • User would no longer be able to submit additional hours towards the opportunity
  • A new report showing progress within the opportunity

Let me know if this sounds like an accurate summary, and I can get a note written in our enhancements document for you!

Cheers,

We have added a custom question to the hours dashboard to which staff respond to let us know if they have completed their volunteer work, but this doesn't link to anything in the system that can be used.

We have setup all of our volunteer opportunities to be on-going opportunities. This works best for our volunteer programs and volunteer management; however, it means that we don't have a signal to send a feedback survey, etc., a unique confirmation that the volunteer has completed their committment.

They will no longer need to submit hours once they've completed their opportunity.

Yes, a program manager will need to know or be able to search whether or not a user has reached this threshold. We have a custom report that shows if they've marked their hours completed via the custom question in the hours dashboard.

The number of hours can vary depending on the volunteer project , opportunity, and time commitment.

Hi Kris,

Thank you for posting! Let me gather some clarifying information from you. The piece I want to hone in on from a data perspective is what specific sort of metric is being used to validate if a volunteer has or has not "completed the work" for this certain opportunity.

  • Are you able to provide a use case example that I can reference?
  • Once a user has completed their work, does this mean they no longer need to submit hours to the opportunity?
  • Will program managers need to know or be able to search whether or not a user has reached this threshold?
  • Is the work completed at a certain number of hours attributed to the opportunity or is there a different metric for success?

Let me know these extra details so I can be sure we're understanding your request as clearly as possible. Thank you!
