Exporting Hours--COMPLETELY BROKEN

Hello all,

I don't know if you realize how hours are exported. I have managed a connect site for 5 years, but for the most part your work is on aggregate information. I currently manage a connect site that tracks and reports hour entries with granularity.

When you export your hours, you are exporting hours based on the start date of the opportunity (YUCK). If you are looking for hours that were just submitted to your site, you must find them by selecting an export based on the start date of the opportunity. Obviously, for ongoing and runs until needs, this is absolutely disgusting to do when you are looking for just the hours that have been submitted to you recently.

I don't know how we got here fam, but this is bad. The solution is easy--I need the column referenced on the hours page to be listed and exported based on date the hours were added, not date the opportunity was posted. But to do this, they would need to change everyone's default settings from the one that doesn't make sense to the one that does.

So please--speak up! I bet you didn't know you were pulling hours on the hours tab based on when the opportunity was posted. If you actually have a use for hours based on when the opportunity was posted, please let me know what situation you're in and why that would make sense to you, because I cannot fathom a use case where this would be the desired default.

Hey Nick,

Good afternoon!

When you export your hours, you are exporting hours based on the start date of the opportunity

  • Can you tell me where you are exporting from? A report I might recommend to check out would be the Volunteer Hours Logged report in the Reports > Opportunities section, as it filters hours by when they were added.

The solution is easy--I need the column referenced on the hours page to be listed and exported based on date the hours were added, not date the opportunity was posted.

  • Since each report is different, this might depend on where the admin is exporting from. After knowing more about the data you need and are exporting, I hope to guide you to existing reports to better suit your goals.

Thanks,

Shonie
