We use cookies to try and give you a better experience in Freshdesk.
You can learn more about what kind of cookies we use, why, and how from our Privacy policy. If you hate cookies, or are just on a diet, you can disable them altogether too. Just note that the Freshdesk service is pretty big on some cookies (we love the choco-chip ones), and some portions of Freshdesk may not work properly if you disable cookies.
We’ll also assume you agree to the way we use cookies and are ok with it as described in our Privacy policy, unless you choose to disable them altogether through your browser.
The basic work policy rounds time to the nearest 15 minutes, with 60 being a full hour. However, Galaxy/Amplify calculates it by minute, not based on the basic 60-minute cycle, but in fractions that require us to either use a calculator to understand it or reference a conversion chart. As of now, you have to use a conversion chart to calculate the minutes, and I don't think that's a good use of our time, specifically when you have to train many people to understand and calculate this information, including youth (as young as 10 years old) and adult volunteers and staff members, who may not be computer savvy, or understand why these extra steps have to be taken. I feel the calculations should be simplified so that all who use it have a clear and obvious understanding of how their time is calculated. See examples and conversion chart below.
For instance, as of now, timestamps represent an hour in decimal form, so 1.91 hours equates to one hour, fifty-four minutes, and six seconds. One of the support techs provided this full breakdown by Googling "what is .91 of an hour." We shouldn't have to look anything up, as the software should automatically calculate it in layman's terms, i.e., 1.54.

Agreed! This was such a hurdle when I started my job. I have gotten pretty good at these calculations at this point, but it can be challenging for new office volunteers when they help enter time sheets.
