Inspiration for Naming Needs

Heads up! This article is intended for Agency Managers. 


You've got your site all figured out and are creating amazing volunteer Needs to share with your community—it's all looking up! Then, you hit a creative wall when trying to title those awesome Needs. Don't worry, it happens to us all! That's why we have created this article for a little inspiration. You'll find links to helpful resources and some tips for best practices that we hope can get you over that creative wall!  


So you know: Some sites have language overrides in place. This means you may see Needs in place of Opportunities, Programs in place of Agencies, or even Prerequisites in place of Qualifications. Only Site Managers can request language overrides for a site. 


Examples for creative inspiration

When naming Needs, it's important to ask yourself a few questions: 

  • What is the purpose of this Need? What's the big goal or mission? What will your volunteers be doing for this Need? Is it holiday-themed, etc.? 
    • Understanding your Need can help you nail down a great title that conveys its objective! 
  • Who is your target audience? 
    • If you know who your targeted demographic is for volunteers, you can tailor the Need to meet their interests and skills! 
  • What kinds of calls to action match the Need? 
    • Calls to action are a great way to encourage volunteer engagement—and they can be creative too!
