❖ Heads up! This article is intended for site managers. Only site managers can create custom response questions. Please note that custom response questions are applied to all Need response forms and can't be applied to specific volunteer Needs.

Do you want to collect important information about your volunteers? Do you have questions that you'd like to have answered when a volunteer responds to any of your Needs? Custom response questions are a great way to collect the data you need! Click here for more information about creating your own custom response questions.

Examples of great response questions

When a volunteer responds to a Need they're interested in, they're able to also respond to your custom response questions. You can also make answering a response question a requirement before a volunteer can submit a Need response.

  • How did you hear about this Need?
  • Do you have any allergies we should know about?
  • Can we contact you about similar Needs?
  • Would you be interested in sharing photos of your experience with our organization?
  • Do you have specialized skills that align with the work required for this Need?
  • What's your shirt size?

These are only a few examples of the kinds of questions you can ask to get the information you need!

  • Here's what the questions look like when a volunteer submits a response:

So you know:

  • They can't be applied to a specific Need.
    • You'll want to frame your questions in a way that can work for all Needs.
  • Since they appear on all Need response forms, consider what kinds of questions can be used universally!
    • If you provide shirts at every Need, then asking what size shirt they wear would be a great question to consider including.
  • You can require them so that volunteers must answer them when responding to a Need or you can keep them as an optional step.
