How to Edit a Need as an Agency Manager

Heads up! This article is intended for Agency Managers. If you're a Site Manager, click here 


Once you've created volunteer Needs for your Agency, you can always return to edit them at any time! You can edit their title, description, location, capacity, etc. Here we cover: 


Editing an existing Need

To get started: 

1. Go to My Agency > Needs

2. Click on the Need you want to edit. 

3. Make any necessary edits on the Edit Need page. 

4. Be sure to click Update Need to save your changes. 

Best practice: We recommend checking the box beside Notify respondents of this update? before you click Update Need. This is especially helpful when volunteers have already responded to the Need and when you update any of the following: 

  • Need description
  • Need date or time 
  • Need location—address, city, state, or ZIP


Why can't I edit the Duration type? 

Depending on the duration type selected when creating the Need, there may be some limitations when it comes to updating the duration type later: 

  • If the duration type is Custom Shifts or Recurring Shifts,  you can't update or change the duration type. 
    • You can always clone the Need! 
  • If the duration type is Happens On, Is Ongoing, or Runs Until, then you can change the duration type to Happens On, Is Ongoing, Runs Until, or Multi-Date
    • You can also clone the Need! 
  • If the duration type is Multi-Date, then there's no limitation and you can change it to any other duration type.
